Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The apartment was a very comfortable size. With a good stock of utensils. Having 2 bedrooms and bathrooms was good. The 'garden view' of the apartment included the caretaker shed, taps, ladders and supply of wood. There was no view of the pool but that was not necessarily a bad thing as there were no blinds/curtains on the patio door. This meant we maintained privacy and the pool lights did not illuminate the apartment at night. The parking was secure and off road and the pool was enough for a dip after a hot day out. It was a bonus having the washer and the host sent many friendly messages about renting bikes, security access, instructions for parking and recommendations for places to eat. The apartment was away from major roads and tourist developments, of which there are many! So while it may not be convenient for accessing things on foot etc it's out of the way of major headaches in terms of busyness. So very quiet and private at night.

Negative: There was only 1 towel. No toiletries were supplied but were meant to be. There were no kitchen bin bags supplied and the blind in the twin room had been fitted on backwards which meant when the light was on you could see into the room. The batteries were low in the a/c unit. I messaged the host the evening we arrived regarding these inconveniences. By the time we received/read the reply it was the early evening of our second night. The host was apologetic however the delay meant it was not resolved. We managed but it would have been preferable and more convenient for us if such basics had been checked before hand because they are expected. So, I think it's fair to say accessing help to resolve problems was very limited. Tulum is under going major development work so road access was very pot holed and new traffic systems can make navigating a hassle but of course the host has no control over such things.

Summary: Pleasant roomy apartment marred by preventable inconviences.
